Excellent article in the Taipei Times today.
India has become alarmed by the Monaco-sized ports of the PLA. The initiative is an economic strategy but the Taiwanese don't understand this initiative. They allow their own politicians to squabble over power and elections.
Nobody is paying attention to the PLA encroachment on the defense strategy of Taiwan. What are you doing?
The Taiwanese politicians plays a corrupt game of victimization. They never take the initiative to actually do a darned thing about their problems. This is the social problem of Taiwan society today. Nobody take initiative to fix the problems. What about Taiwan defense strategies? The Taiwanese know nothing about defending themselves.
Everybody I have encountered in Taiwan is clueless about securing collective self-defense treaties for Taiwan.
But everybody thinks they can declare independence without any problems from China (or America). This has created a social problem for the future of Taiwanese.
